Privacy Policy
Special Privacy Note for Kids: We urge you to get permission from your parents or teachers before sending your personal information to this or any other website.
We encourage you to read this Privacy Policy so you can understand what information we collect, how we use it, what steps we take to protect your information and your rights. This policy covers the personal information you provide to us both on this website and through other means (phone, fax, etc). This policy does not cover third party web sites. For example, your financial information is protected by our third party payment processors, such as PayPal, BMTMicro and Digital River. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of third party websites.
If you feel that we are not following our stated privacy policy, please Contact Us. It's possible that our privacy policy may change at some point in the future. Any personal information you provide us will be covered under our privacy policy that is in effect at the time you provide us with that information.
What Information Do We Collect?
There are two separate types of information that we collect:
1) Personal information that you voluntarily provide and
2) Anonymous information about web browser activity on our website that our web server automatically records.
When you voluntarily provide it to us - for example on the forums, in an email message, or when you place an order - we collect information about you personally, such as your name, address, email and phone number, etc. This is known as "Personally Identifiable Information". We do not, for example, collect any of your financial information.
As you click on our web pages, our web server creates a Cookie - a random number that uniquely identifies your machine - and automatically records your browser's activity on our website. Your computer's IP address, which of our pages are visited and how your browser got to our site (via a search engine, a link from another site, etc.) are stored in our server's logs. This information is anonymous.
Our cookies are safe and automatically disclose to your browser what we are capturing (via a technology known as P3P). If you prefer, you can adjust your browser settings to disable cookies (how to tips).
The impersonal web browser information is never linked to your personal information.
We don't sell ads on our site, so no Ad Servers collect any personal or web browser information about you.
How do we use the information we collect?
Symbionica uses your personal information only to improve our products or fulfill your requests for products, services or information. We will not rent, sell or trade your personal information to any third party.
There are three limited circumstances when we may disclose your peronsal information to a third party:
1) When we contract with a third party mailing, shipping or order processing firm to fulfill your requests for information, products or services.
2) If required by law or legal process, we will provide your personal information to third parties. We may also provide your personal information if we deem it to be in the interest of public safety.
3) In the event of a transfer of ownership, such as a Corporate Merger or Acquisition, we will provide notice before your peronsal information is transferred or becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Symbionica uses the anonymous web browser information to help us fine tune our website, enhancing popular pages, reworking rarely used pages, adjusting our keywords, etc. For example, we look at reports that show us the number of visitors to a page over a period of time
How is the Information We Collect Protected?
Although no computer system is 100% secure, Symbionica values the security of your information and takes reasonable steps to protect it. We use a number of procedures and technologies to protect your personal information both when you submit it to us and while we maintain it in our systems. For example, we use industry standard security technologies such firewalls, password protection and Secure Socket Layers (SSL). Our web server and databases are maintained in a facility with reasonable physical protection.
In our procedures, we contract only with third parties - such as our payment processor, BMT Micro Inc. - to fulfill your requests only if they follow appropriate security practices. In addition, we share your personal information only with employees on a "need to know" basis.
